Our latest installment in our effort to highlight creators across the 805—and to bring our motto, “We Are All One Under the Sky,” to life in a visual way—showcases Santa Paula.
Photographer Joseph Meza is a recent graduate of Santa Paula High and a member of the UPSL team Oaks FC. He writes:
“The photos I took are special because they capture the heart of my community in different ways. One of my favorites shows the beautiful sunset in Santa Paula at night with some beautiful stars. Another picture is a hotel well known in Santa Paula named Glen Tavern, known for its haunted experiences. I also took a photo of the mountain with the letters SP which stands for Santa Paula, In the early 1920s, a group of enthusiastic Santa Paula High School students embarked on a memorable journey up South Mountain to carve the initials SP into the hillside, each letter measuring approximately 125 feet long and 25 feet wide. Another picture I took was the moon with beautiful stars surrounding it, showing how beautiful it looks at night in Santa Paula under the stars. These images are important to me because it reminds me of how beautiful Santa Paula is. It’s a small town here in the 805 known for its agricultural and historic landmarks. I’m very happy to capture these beautiful images of my hometown.”
Goodnight, 805, from Santa Paula.
